Meet Hayden Smith
I quit my corporate career in tech to start a flower farm in 2025.
Gardening became my lifeline in my 20s as I navigated divorce, came out as lesbian, and rebuilt my life on my family’s farm. My garden was my place for peace and healing. Now, I’m beyond excited to start this flower farm and share that same joy with you.
The name ‘Big Oak’ came from childhood memories of a huge old oak tree on the family farm. It was a meetup spot for my cousins and siblings, we’d call each other up and say, “Let’s meet at the Big Oak in half an hour!” and then we’d sprint out the door to our rendezvous spot to plan shenanigans for the day, as farm kids do.
Sadly the old oak tree is no longer standing, but its legacy lives on.

Meet Madeline Pommier
I’m an environmental engineer who grew up in the city of Portland, learning to love the outdoors by working in my family’s veggie garden as a kid.
I left the city life to follow my dream of expanding people’s access to fresh food and now run the flower farm and Veggie CSA with Hayden.
